Adam spent his early years growing up outside of Cincinnati, Ohio fishing with his grandfather at the family cottage on Rocky Fork Lake.   It was also where he recalls the roots of bluegrass first taking hold.  "Every year our neighborhood would block off the whole street and cook ribs and hire a bluegrass band....it was great.... and I remember loving that pure bluegrass sound."

After sixth grade his family moved to Lapeer, Michigan where his love of the outdoors was solidified.  After graduating high school, Adam decided to head north...way north to the pristine wilderness and unspoiled shores of Lake Superior and Northern Michigan University.  This would be the common thread that brought Chasin' Steel together.  NMU is also where Adam met his future wife, Kimberley.  They have three young girls, Savanah, Harper, and Alayna.

Adam Carpenter has been playing guitar and writing music since 1989.  He started to teach himself guitar to satisfy the urge to sing and write songs.  He has played with two other bands over the last twelve years.  Adam finally found what he was looking for with Chasin' Steel.  Partnering with the Kuhlman brothers has created an outlet for his musical preferences as well as the original songs that lend themselves to their style.

Adam's musical influences vary from blues  and jazz, to rock and roll to classical, country and of course bluegrass artists.  Especially the King of Bluegrass...Mr. Jimmy Martin.   "It's almost like I can't cope without listening to bluegrass now"

He is continually composing new material for Chasin' Steel.  Adam's progression from the guitar to the  mandolin coupled with his lead vocals has brought Chasin' Steel's dynamic sound to a new level.

Adam plays:

Collings MF Mandolin with GHS medium phosphor bronze strings with a Schertler Dyn-MII and Schertler Preamp for the chop as well as an AKG c1000s condenser microphone for leads and breaks.

Also:

Martin D-35 with medium GHS strings w/ a Fishman Rare Earth pickup.
